Woodberry Public School Celebrate NAIDOC

Woodberry Public School celebrate NAIDOC on 21st June 2010 with students, staff, parents and community members celebrating and learning about Indigenous Culture with performances, activities and food. 

 The program for the day included

  • A dance performance by members of the Yoo-kul Wung-hah Dance Group (from Karuah)
  • Didgeridoo Performance by Maurice Perry
  • Traditional Games
  • Traditional Dance Workshop
  • Art Workshop
  • Bush Tucker Talk and Tasting
  • An activity which explains “why Sorry is so important to Indigenous People.

Everyone enjoyed the Bush Tucker morning tea and lunch where the menu included crocodile, kangaroo and emu salad wraps; scones with rosella jam and wattle seed cream; lemon myrtle cheesecake and rainforest punch.

Everyone had a fantastic day which ended with the creation of a Reconciliation Path where students wrote a message to Indigenous people affected by the policies and acts of removing children.
